Several students from the Higher School of Economics have developed innovative engineering and computer technologies for business, and their unique inventions have won them grants from the UMNIK programme, which is organised by the Innovation Support Foundation.

A team from the HSE Faculty of Computer Science was one of the top-ranking teams in the semi-finals of a collegiate programming tournament held in St. Petersburg this year. HSE’s team will now compete in the finals of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest, which is set to take place in the United States next May.

Rimma Pogodina, Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Communications, Media, and Design, became the best Teacher of the Year, and the ‘Communications School for Young People’ and ‘TeleHSE’ projects won prizes in the Best PR Project and Best Social Media Project categories at the 5^th International Eventiada Awards.

Second-year student in the HSE/NES Programme in Economics, Maksim Vavulin, placed second in the FIDE World Youth Under 18 Chess Championship. The championship took place in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia from September 21^st through October 5^th.
