4.8%
is the average share of women on the boards of directors at Russian companies.
At Brazilian companies, this figure is 5.1%, in China it is 8.4%, and in India it is 6.5%. At the same time, China was the only BRIC country where more than half of the companies have women on their boards of directors.
It should be noted that at 17.8%, the average percentage of women on the boards of the largest companies in the Eurozone is significantly higher than in BRICS countries.
These data are presented in a report by Tatyana Ratnikova, Senior Research Fellow at the Laboratory for Macro-Structural Modeling of the Russian Economy, and Dmitry Gavrilov, a student in the HSE Master’s programme ‘Strategic Corporate Finance’, entitled ‘The Female Share: A Study of Non-financial Aspects of Effectiveness in Western European Companies’. More about the place of women on boards of directors in other countries can be found on the OPEC.ru website (in Russian).
