A New International Laboratory at the HSE
An International Laboratory of Quantitative Finance will open at the HSE, as part of a competition aimed at attracting leading scientists to Russian universities. It will be headed by one of the leading international experts in stochastic analysis and financial mathematics, Professor Yury Kabanov.

Youth and Project Management: 3rd Conference
At the end of May the 3rd international conference ‘Youth and Project Management in Russia: Contemporary Challenges and Prospects’ took place at the HSE. It was organized by the HSE Department of Project Management in cooperation with the Russian Project Management Association SOVNET and Young Crew Sovnet. Valery Anshin, Head of this Department and Academic Supervisor of the conference, told us about the event.

An international academic conference ‘Street Art in the Changing City: Theoretical Perspectives’ takes place on June 7-8, 2013, at the HSE. The event has been organized by the ‘Graffiti and Street Art in the Cultural Cityscape’ research and study group, and the Poletayev Institute for Theoretical and Historical Studies in the Humanities. Experts in modern urban studies will participate in the conference. Keynote speakers are geographer Luke Dickens (Open University of London, United Kingdom) and sociologist Andrea Mubi Brighenti (University of Trento, Italy). Vasily Klyucharev, Dean of the HSE Faculty of Psychology: ‘Our objective is to integrate our faculty into the European academic space’
Vasily Klyucharev is the new Dean of the HSE Faculty of Psychology. His professional interests lie in neuroeconomics - more specifically, in the study of social influence, of the ways our decisions can be manipulated, what mechanisms are at play, and which parts of our brain are involved when someone tries to manipulate us. The new Dean talked to our news service about the faculty's upcoming research projects and academic courses.

About the Center of Social Movement Theory
Pamela Oliver, Conway-Bascom Professor of Sociology, University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, an expert on collective action, social movements, news coverage of protests, and racial disparities in criminal justice will give a talk "The Ethnic Dimensions: Bringing Ethnic Divisions and Conflict to the Center of Social Movement Theory" at the International Research Seminar in Sociology in the HSE on June, 5, 2013. The Best Students Go to London
Every year the HSE International College of Economics and Finance rewards its best students by sending them to study at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE), for free. This year, two second-year undergraduate and two first-year master’s students of the ICEF will be reaping the benefits of their hard work with a trip to the LSE.
Lev Lubimov: A Warm Human-Being at the Heart of the HSE
Dr. Lev Lubimov, Professor Emeritus of the HSE’s Chair for Macroeconomic Analysis, helped found the University in the early 1990s and since then has been instrumental in its development by heading the Educational and Methodic Association in Economics and Management, the Scientific and Methodic Council of Education, and the Methodic Association in Logistics.
