Maths on Top: HSE Enters the Top 100 in the ARWU Ranking
HSE University is the only Russian university to rank among the top 100 universities worldwide in the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects in Mathematics. This is an impressive feat, considering that the Faculty of Mathematics has only been around since 2007. Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government Dmitry Chernyshenko stressed that this success testifies to the correct choice of strategy and the achievements of the University team. Digitized Archives Are a Great Treasure
Digital archives and electronic versions of manuscripts are essential to the work of modern-day philologists, linguists, and literary scholars. The possibilities that digitization opens up to researchers were the focus of the second international conference of early career researchers of Russian literature. RAS Institute of Problems of Chemical Physics Launches Joint Department with HSE Faculty of Chemistry
The new Department will prepare students for careers in cutting edge research and engineering, as well as entrepreneurial and commercial development. They will be able to promote their own innovative projects and projects developed by their colleagues. The Department is headed by Professor Sergey Aldoshin, full member of Russian Academy of Sciences.
Singapore, Moscow and Shanghai Implemented Most Effective Policies in the Pandemic
The governments of big cities in the Asian and Pacific regions implemented more effective policies during the COVID pandemic than cities in Europe and America. This is the conclusion of a study prepared by HSE University. Singapore did it better than the others, Moscow took second place, while the Top-5 also includes Shanghai, Seoul and Beijing. The researchers say that the key factor in Moscow’s success factor was how quickly economic activity resumed in the city, which was, among other things, supported by large-scale inflows from the city budget.
HSE University Upgrades its Software Engineering Programme in Partnership with ISP RAS and 1C
HSE University will enhance its programmes in Software Engineering implemented by the Faculty of Computer Science together with the RAS Institute for System Programming (ISP RAS) and the company, 1C. The focus will be on the study of cutting-edge technology of software development as well as on expanding the number of various specializations.
HSE Is Sole Representative of Russia in 5 Shanghai Global Subject Rankings
HSE University is now represented in eight subject rankings of the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. In five of these subjects, HSE is the only university from Russia, and in three other subjects, HSE outranks its domestic peers. HSE University is thereby the highest-ranking Russian university in the ranking.
The New RSCI List Now Includes 887 Journals
The Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) quality assessment and journal selection working group based on Web of Science has completed its updates to the RSCI list. The group particularly considered journals that submitted 219 initiative applications last year. The updated list includes 87 new journals, with 2 journals having been excluded.
HSE University Succeeds in Measuring Impostor Syndrome
Very little attention has been paid to the impostor syndrome phenomenon in Russian scientific literature. Moreover, until now, no Russian-language methodology has been tested to measure the severity of impostor syndrome. This situation has been rectified by scientists from HSE University and the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA).
